In the whisky business you have to be patient... Extremely patient! The very first distillation of The Lakes Single Malt began to flow on the 16th of December 2014 and is currently ‘resting’. It will not, in fact, be whisky at all for three years and a day from that moment. Our lovingly crafted spirit is taking its time, borrowing colour and flavour from the casks whilst it waits (1,095 days in total), letting the wood do its work as the spirit matures to perfection.
We will not know the true character of our Lakes Single Malt whisky until then. We expect it to be a light, fruity spirit characterised by the range of casks we use, from fruity & vanilla from our bourbon to dried fruit & nutty tones from our sherry casks. Other than that, we'll all just have to wait a little while longer to know for sure.
