Reopening announcement

We can’t wait to welcome you back to the distillery and our preparations are almost complete, with a host of new safety measures in place to ensure you have an exceptional experience.

Following three extraordinary months, we are delighted to announce the two-phased reopening.

Friday, 10 July 2020:
The distillery shop reopens at 10am.
You may ‘Click & Collect’ at the distillery, via LakesDistillery.com.

Friday, 31 July 2020:
Distillery tours recommence from 10am.
Bistro at the Distillery begins a daytime service.

Our team are excited to be back and we can’t wait to see you, but our priority continues to be their – and your – health and safety.

Taking into account government advice, we are reopening the distillery in a manner which allows us to keep people relaxed, comfortable and reassured that they are as safe as possible when visiting The Lakes.

To allow us to do this, pre-booking tours and our restaurant is essential.

Welcoming you back
into our shop

We’ve introduced a number of new measures to ensure you have a safe and enjoyable shopping experience at The Lakes.

When you arrive, one of our team will greet and advise you about our new health and safety protocols. They include a one-way system, redefined entry and exit points, clear social distance markings and signage, reduced capacity in the shop, hand sanitisation areas, avoidance of close contact, and, wherever possible, contactless card payments.

If you are in The Lake District National Park and shop on LakesDistillery.com, you will also be able to use our complimentary Click & Collect service to pick up your spirits at the distillery shop from the 10 July.

We look forward to welcoming you back, as soon as you are ready.

Guided tours
begin on 31 July

Limited to only 8 people, your guided distillery tour will become much more personal and our carefully planned tour schedule will make use of space in our recently refurbished Whiskymaker’s House so that, seven days a week, we can offer you the choice between:

– Distillery Tour & Tasting (£12.50, 1 hour)
The Lakes Whisky Tour (£25, 2 hours)
Whisky & Chocolate Experience (£25, 2 hours)

With improved and more frequent deep-cleaning measures in place, floor markings and additional signage, hand sanitisation points at every entrance, and team members positioned throughout the distillery to help with the flow and movement of visitors, we promise to do everything we can to take you on a safe and enjoyable tour.

Local produce
& hearty flavours return

With a focus on hygiene and cleanliness, and fewer chefs able to work safely in our kitchen, Bistro at the Distillery has been adapted to return with a slightly smaller, but equally impressive menu, and with the same focus on freshness, flavour and simplicity.

For the time being, we will only be serving between 10am and 6pm, with a menu which changes in line with the seasonal produce available.

With a dedicated serving staff for each table, we will disinfect thoroughly after each guest, and deep clean after service each evening.

In addition to dining alfresco in our Victorian farmhouse’s courtyard, we will also be introducing a new ‘Picnic Box’ and outdoor coffee cart where weather permitting, you can explore the distillery’s beautiful gardens.

Please note: due to the reduced capacity, it is important to book in advance and provide dietary requirements ahead of your visit, if at all possible.

Remaining safe
& Covid secure

While your visit may be a little different, our focus on delivering an exceptional experience remains the same and, in order to keep you safe, we have carried out a thorough risk assessment of our entire operation, sharing the results with every member of our team.

Extensive training has been given to all employees on hygiene and respiratory etiquette, as well as social distancing and transmission risks.

Increased cleaning, hand washing and hygiene procedures are in place throughout the distillery, all in excess of Government guidance; and we have taken all reasonable steps to ensure people can maintain a safe social distance, both in the workplace and when they visit.

At the beginning of each day, every member of our team has their temperature taken, and we will be asking visitors about their recent health and travel history, as well as recording details to support the Government’s contact track and trace initiative.

Thank you for your ongoing support!
