In light of the current government restrictions in Cumbria and our surrounding area, we will unfortunately once again be required to close the distillery shop, Bistro and tours to the public from Wednesday 30th December for the forseeable future, or until the recommended guidelines allow.  If you have a booking in the near future, we will be in touch to reschedule your visit. We are still however accepting future bookings in 2021, with free cancellation and the ability to reschedule at your convenience. All gift vouchers will be honoured. Contact us if you have any questions.

Our online webshop remains open with contact-free home delivery. We have temporarily suspended our Click & Collect service for the time being.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

How to find us

The Lakes Distillery, Setmurthy, near Bassenthwaite Lake, Cumbria CA13 9SJ

From the A66: Turn off A66 at the north end of Bassenthwaite Lake onto B5291. At Ouse Bridge junction bear left (don't go over the bridge). Distillery is on the right after a few hundred metres.

Please note there are roadworks surrounding the distillery. We advise you leave additional time to arrive at the distillery in good time for your tour. Call 017687 88850 (option 1) if you think you might be delayed.

From the A591: use the turning directly next to the Castle Inn onto the B5291. Carry on past Armathwaite Hall. Bear right after crossing the Ouse Bridge and the Distillery is on the right after a few hundred metres.

Google Maps: Type in 'Lakes Distillery, Setmurthy' and it will take you straight to the door.

Parking & access

FREE car parking for up to 90 cars.

FREE coach parking for up to 5 coaches.

The Lakes Distillery has its own bus stop on the Stagecoach x4 route from Workington to Penrith, stopping every 2 hours. Download the schedule here. The nearest local train station is Aspartia, operated by Northern Railway. The nearest mainline train station is Penrith on the west coast mainline. The tour team can book your return trip by taxi when you're ready to depart; we have good relationships with a number of local taxis.

Wheelchair users are welcome. Unfortunately motorised wheelchairs are not permitted on the tour, due to alcohol vapours in the production area. There is a wheelchair lift between floors. Due to a maximum lift size we cannot accommodate motability scooters. A courtesy manual wheelchair is available on request. Please inform us at the time of booking. Carers are welcome for free, please enquire at the time of booking.
