The Whiskymaker's Reserve No.4: The Reviews

With the release of The Whiskymaker’s Reserve No.4 last week, we have been delighted with the response to our new single malt whisky.

The Whiskymaker’s Reserve is an artistic exploration of our sherry-led house style. The whiskymaker defines the architecture of each release as he unlocks infinite variables and never-ending flavour possibilities.

One of our most complex yet approachable whiskies in the series to date, this is a well-balanced and contemplative whisky, with big notes of Manuka honey, sun-dried dates, nuts and an indulgent velvet-cream finish; but don’t just take our word for it.

The Whisky Exchange’s whisky expert and Brand Ambassador, Billy Abbott, reviewed our 4th release in their latest Youtube video, enjoying Dhavall’s lower ABV release:

Really, really great. If you like a sherry matured whisky, and you want a whisky that really pulls the best out of some fantastic casks this is a great place to look.

The Spirit Kiosk, founded by brothers Olivier & Emile Ward, shared their thoughts with their discerning drinkers:

The latest creation from The Lakes Distillery has landed! The fourth installment of their Whiskymaker’s Reserve is, in our opinion, the best yet. The intense manuka and prominent dried fruit showcases their oak forward, sherried house style to perfection. As with their previous releases, there’s only a limited quantity.

Malthound, Gary thoroughly enjoyed the press sample we sent him:

Morish the Press Release says? Yes I say!
A very satisfying blending with some nice sweet, tangy, spicy flavours.
More Please!

The Whiskey Chaps ran a live Twitter Tasting on the day of release, along with their blog post.

Having tried some Lakes distillery offerings before this tasting i was expecting a good quality single malt here. I have described it as deep, rounded, spicy and warming with a lovely mouthfeel, and i’d be very surprised if anyone disagreed to be honest, it is in my humble opinion, a cracking drop.
Would I buy a bottle?
What can i say other than definitely, it’s a great whisky, one that i’d very happily sit with of an evening.

Have you tried The Whiskymaker’s Reserve No.4 yet?
