With Shrove Tuesday almost upon us, our distillery chef has created a delicious caramel whisky sauce to complement your pancakes.
Light and fluffy, American pancakes are easy to make and ideal with sweet and savoury toppings.
135g of plain flour
1 tsp of baking powder
½ tsp of salt
2 tbsp of caster sugar
130ml of milk
1 large egg
Begin by sifting the flour, baking powder, salt and caster sugar into a large bowl. Lightly whisk your milk and egg, pouring the mixture into your flour and beating until you have a smooth batter. Let the batter stand while melting a knob of butter in a non-stick frying pan. Pour in your pancake mix and cook until both sides are a beautiful golden brown.
Tradition suggests you should opt for sugar and lemon juice but, for the more adventurous, our mouth-watering caramel whisky sauce will elevate your taste experience.
500ml of double cream
175g of Demerara sugar
1 tbsp of treacle
25ml of The One Signature Whisky
Gently heat the double cream in a saucepan, whisking in the treacle and demerara sugar until it is melted. Add a measure of The One Signature Whisky before serving to make the perfect pre-Lent indulgence.
